Qualitative Case Study on the Therapeutic Intervention of Psychodrama Master Dr. Choi, Hun-Jin

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to derive a process model of the therapeutic intervention of psychodrama master Dr. Choi, Hun-Jin and to identify the characteristics of his therapeutic intervention. Based on Merriam¡¯s qualitative case study method, the process and characteristics of Dr. Choi¡¯s therapeutic interventions were analyzed, using case transcripts obtained from three protagonists as primary analysis data and Dr. Choi¡¯s books and various academic literature as secondary analysis data. Based on the results of the categorization of Dr. Choi¡¯s therapeutic interventions, the following results were derived: The core category of therapeutic intervention was ¡®restoring vitality by expressing the congestion of the protagonist¡¯s body and mind.¡¯ The model of the therapeutic intervention process was divided into four stages: the stage of meeting strangers; the stage of focusing on the reaction of the protagonist¡¯s body; the stage of revealing the protagonist¡¯s mind; and the stage of restoring the protagonist¡¯s sense of self. The director¡¯s therapeutic factors that consistently affected each stage were identified as ¡®relational characteristics¡¯ and ¡®personality characteristics.¡¯ The significance of this study is that it analyzed the actual treatment process of Dr. Choi, a master of psychodrama.
