Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to derive a process model of the therapeutic intervention of psychodrama master Dr. Choi, Hun-Jin and to identify the characteristics of his therapeutic intervention. Based on Merriam’s qualitative case study method, the process and characteristics of Dr. Choi’s therapeutic interventions were analyzed, using case transcripts obtained from three protagonists as primary analysis data and Dr. Choi’s books and various academic literature as secondary analysis data. Based on the results of the categorization of Dr. Choi’s therapeutic interventions, the following results were derived: The core category of therapeutic intervention was ‘restoring vitality by expressing the congestion of the protagonist’s body and mind.’ The model of the therapeutic intervention process was divided into four stages: the stage of meeting strangers; the stage of focusing on the reaction of the protagonist’s body; the stage of revealing the protagonist’s mind; and the stage of restoring the protagonist’s sense of self. The director’s therapeutic factors that consistently affected each stage were identified as ‘relational characteristics’ and ‘personality characteristics.’ The significance of this study is that it analyzed the actual treatment process of Dr. Choi, a master of psychodrama.
